American fashion designer Anna Sui is to launch a new women's fragrance, La Vie de Bohème, in collaboration with Inter Parfums. It is the brand's first perfume launch since Inter Parfums took over its licence in June 2011, and the fragrance is expected to appear in the travel retail market in early 2013.

Created by Phillippe Romano of Drom, the perfume is a "tribute to bohemian spirit and style", says the company, and is a fruity floral with head notes of Turkish rose, pear, berries and pitahaya (dragonfruit) accord; a heart note of peony; and base notes of dry woods, sandalwood, musk and black vanilla.

The bottle, in the shape of a rose, has a gold cap surmounted by a large filigree butterfly, and the juice is lavender-coloured. The outer packaging, inspired by Sui's textures and prints, aims to evoke a brocade effect in deep purple with lavender swirls, plus red butterflies and roses.

The perfume will be available in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml edt formats, as well as a 200ml shower gel and body lotion, and the model for the shoot will be Thairine Garcia, shot by Steven Meisel, reclining in a field of flowers and playing with a butterfly.

The use of Garcia, who has already catwalk modelled for Sui in New York, courts controversy, as she is 14 years of age.

"The La Vie de Bohème lifestyle always evolves, but the constant remains the same," said Sui, "and that is always a woman who is a bit defiant, a bit romantic, a bit artistic.  In essence, it's truly the modern woman. Yes, the signature look may be mixed patterns, flowing dresses, boots, floppy hats, but every generation brings its own attitude to it, a unique expression of personal style."
