Chalhoub Group has opened two new stores in Casablanca, marking its first movement into the market in Morocco.

Partnering with Omar Kabbaj and sons, the owners of Moroccan beauty distribution company OLKA, the Chalhoub Group has opened two of its Wojooh concept stores. Wojooh is one of the Middle East’s top beauty retailers and has more than 75 stores in the region.

The two stores include one 200sqm outlet in the prestigious neighbourhood of Sijelmassi and another 200sqm location in Massira, a busy retail street in Casablanca.

Patrick Chalhoub, co-CEO at the Chalhoub Group, said that Morocco was an attractive market for the company: “We are excited about our arrival to the Moroccan market. It is true that the GCC luxury market is maturing; however we are still optimistic especially in the view of the emerging potential of markets such as Morocco. Morocco is an exciting and potentially lucrative investment destination for retail companies.”

Chalhoub added that the introduction of Wojooh to the region reflects wider changes in buying habits. He said: “The consumption landscape is changing, with a rising demand for brand names and quality from the upper-middle class and wealthy. We are planning to expand further in Morocco with more store opening planned in major cities such as Rabat, Marrakesh and Tangier.”

Chalhoub Group operates across the Middle East in retail, distribution and marketing for luxury brands. The company is now present in 14 countries and operates in more than 650 stores.
