Online campaign enlists the help of teachers

Clearasil has released a series of "Teacher Truths" videos as part of its "Let's Be Clear" skin care campaign. The humorous clips intend to reassure teens that their problems, including acne, will end.

The brand has filmed real teachers from across the US sharing the message that teenage acne, and other problems, will not always be a problem. The brand launched the campaign earlier this year in response to research. Clearasil had previously discovered that the reassurance that acne will improve with time is enough to make teenagers feel more confident in their skin.

Former teacher and Grey's Anatomy star Jesse Williams, who took part in the campaign, said: "As a high school teacher, I saw it all, including all of the tough things that go along with the physical and psychological pressures of being a teenager. I know it gets better because I saw it happen year after year with my students. I wanted to give them reassurance that acne would go away and empower them to create confidence elsewhere, in order to brighten their future."

Clearasil has also teamed up with YouTube star Ricky Dillon to make his own Teacher Truths video with his favourite teacher. It is also asking teenage consumers to share their own teacher truths by posting pictures on social media using the hashtag #TeacherTruthsContest. Teens submitting a photo will be entered into a contest to win a $5,000 college scholarship with one winner chosen each day of the two week campaign.

Debra Eible, Marketing Director at RB said: "What teens really need is some reassurance and a laugh. Reassurance that acne isn't going to last. Reassurance that they'll grow out of it. Reassurance that they won't need acne cream forever. Teens trust their teachers and Clearasil knows that the best reassurance that teen acne will end is hearing 'teacher truths' from a favourite teacher. They are the perfect people to deliver the message."
