With scientists forecasting that this summer could be the hottest on record in the UK, and steady growth in holiday sales over the next five years predicted by Mintel, things are looking rosy for the sun protection market. However, with Cancer Research UK statistics showing that the incidence of severe skin cancer are five times higher now than in the 1970s, and the charity citing an explosion in package holidays to Europe dating from the late 60s and the increasing popularity of the ‘must-have’ tan often achieved only after burning as key reasons for this, consumers still need to be educated when it comes to sun safety.
