Beauty subscription service ipsy has appointed Fernando Madeira, former President and CEO of Walmart.com, as President.
The company hopes that Madeira's 30 years of experience in commerce, media and technology will drive growth further, as it also revealed that its e-commerce service ipsy Shopper has seen 400% growth since it began beta testing in November 2017.
Marcelo Camberos, CEO and co-founder of ipsy, said: “Over the last six years, we’ve created a powerful platform for individuals to express their unique beauty, connect with one other and discover new products, looks and brands that are personal to them.
“Fernando’s commerce expertise and his deep roots in media are a perfect fit for ipsy as we continue to scale our media platform and manage the tremendous growth from our e-commerce business.”
As President and CEO of Walmart.com, Madeira was responsible for accelerating growth of the company's US and Latin American websites, offering customers a seamless shopping experience.
He also co-founded Brazil's first internet portal Terra, where he worked for 23 years and led innovations including the first legal music distribution website and Latin America's first internet TV studio.
Madeira added: “What impresses me most about ipsy is the company’s strong connection with its community.
Leveraging the power of media and e-commerce – two industries that are very close to me – ipsy has built an incredible place for creators and enthusiasts to showcase their unique beauty and empower others to do the same.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to create more opportunities for people to experience beauty in new and different ways.”
Ipsy Shopper offers products from more than 200 beauty brands including bareMinerals, Smashbox, Tarte, OUAI and OFRA.
