Initial thoughts about New Zealand (Aotearoa in Māori) will arguably conjure up images of pristine lakes and mountain ranges, the humble Kiwi bird and one of the country's biggest cultural exports –the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Beauty, however, is not as often considered when thinking about the pacific island nation, despite a sustainable beauty scene which has been gathering pace in recent years.

With New Zealand’s beauty care market being expected to reach US$86.9m in 2022 (Statista), what makes it stand out from the alphabet list of countries touting their own beauty movements?
