Wahanda aims to become a mobile-first company

Wahanda, Europe's largest health and beauty marketplace, has acquired Lemon Labs, a Lithuanian-based app development consultancy.

The acquisition was made as part of a strategic focus for Wahanda to become a mobile-first company. Wahanda currently allows clients to search for and make bookings for health and beauty related services and treatments via its booking service at wahanda.com.

Lemon Labs marks Wahanda's second acquisition in recent months; in November last year, Wahanda acquired German company Salonmeister, after raising $26m in investment funding in 2014. Meanwhile, Wahanda also acquired Salonium in 2012, a Lithuanian salon management system.

Lopo Champalimaud, CEO and founder of Wahanda, said: “We have been working with the Lemon Labs team for the past six months in building our consumer and business apps, and the results speak for themselves. Last week we broke through the 150,000 downloads mark, and that number is growing 20% month on month.”

“The future of Wahanda is in mobile, and we are delighted the Lemon Labs team is now officially an integrated part of our technology team and can continue to lead our product thinking and development, to ensure we deliver the best possible mobile experience for our users.”
