Keeping it in the family

Consolidation amongst once independent packaging manufacturers seems an increasingly significant means of survival, of increasing sales, scale and global reach – notwithstanding the size of the enterprise the customers invariably lose out as the manufacturer and personal attention once afforded becomes increasingly disparate and remote.

So it’s refreshing to find one UK manufacturer retaining independence and with a 40 year history bucking the trend and growing exponentially building strong relationships with core names within the Cosmetics and Perfumery sectors.

Flair for success

Macpac know that exquisite perfume and cosmetic products require an equally elegant packaging. Macpac pride themselves in being packaging engineers and designers as much as salespeople.

No more so than in Cosmetics and Perfumery packaging looks are in the eye of the beholder and high quality packaging is a key determinant of product quality and choice.

Macpac doesn’t sell millions of pieces of homogenous ‘me too’ packaging off a catalogue instead they offer a concept to production process working in close collaboration with customers, an intimately managed bespoke process that starts with an initial idea or an enhancement to an existing product.

Macpac’s design team will visualise on screen using computer aided modelling before building the tool that will eventually run on one of their 12 sophisticated forming machines.

Customers follow this process at every stage taking ownership of their bespoke concept from the very moment it is first visualised on screen to seeing it formed as a finished goods ready for market.

Having in-house design and tooling to compliment the modern machinery offers Macpac’s customers huge price advantage for low volume short batch runs ideal for seasonal promotions or new product launches.

Conversely Macpac is extremely economical for large volume runs. With a 40 year experience in the Cosmetics packaging sector Macpac has fine tuned its entire process of specifying, designing and producing high value packaging allowing fast turnaround a key benefit in the fast moving, competitive cosmetics and perfumery business.

Nivea – the crème de la crème choose Macpac

Nivea is Beiersdorf’s iconic brand, one of the World’s largest skin care brands. It stands for values like trust, family and reliable care for all skin types and is available in about 200 countries across the world.

This giant cosmetics business chose Macpac to create and design a gift box insert for their range of face creams.

The brief to Macpac was to design a box insert to hold four products, Nivea Powerfresh Fruit Shower Gel, Nivea in-shower body moisturiser, Nivea Lip Butter Blueberry Blush and Nivea Crème.

The plastic insert to this high specification ‘keepsake’ box was to compliment the Nivea mauve colour scheme and to perfectly lock in the product range whilst in transit and on-shelf display.

As well as the Gift Box Macpac was asked to design and produce shelf ready packaging (SRP) for Nivea creams.

Every piece of collateral has to earn its place in store so Beiersdorf asked Macpac to produce two ideas for SRP packaging for Nivea Crème and Nivea Body Butter Crème.

SRP provides efficiencies back and front of store. The pressure is on shelf replenishment, to ensure that shelves are fully stocked.

Macpac produced two eye catching SRP packs providing shelf stand out designed to ensure handling costs were kept to a minimum.
