Tactile varnish marks differentiation

Sleever International is describing its new 3D-effect tactile varnish as a “genuinely revolutionary solution” featuring a new packaging dimension – sensoriality. The company says the intention is to stimulate the consumers' senses, thereby getting closer to them. As a result the 3D-finish has become a major component of brand marketing strategy.

The tactile varnish effect is achieved though the company’s Helioflex printing process, which uses several different printing techniques – rotogravure, flexography and serigraphy – but on a single printing line, and the high quality finish can feature up to 14 colours. The 3D-effect is obtained by a special outer varnish that enhances the printing volume. Sleever says the process is compatible with all types of film.

The first application is for Cricket lighters. The 3D-effect makes it possible to boost the volume of visuals of something like plumped up lips but also to incorporate a shiny, glittery finish.

“3D varnish represents an innovative, unique technology which meets the needs of brands in search of a means to differentiate themselves by original packaging,” says Sleever. “This decorative solution undoubtedly heralds the advent of a unique packaging solution capable of evolution and suited to the needs of the most demanding markets.”
