Avon is to build its largest distribution centre in Brazil, the company’s second largest market after the US, in a $150m project. The 70,000 square metre building will be based in Cabreúva, in Brazil’s São Paulo state.

Luis Felipe Miranda, ceo, Avon Brasil, described the centre as both the company’s largest and the most modern. Construction begins next year and the facility should be in operation by 2010.

Brazil is already home to three Avon distribution centres: one in São Paulo and two in the northeast. The current São Paulo unit in Osasco will be shut down in 2011 and part of its staff transferred to the new facility.
