Brand to sponsor inaugural Body Confidence Awards

bareMinerals has partnered with the Campaign for Body Confidence to sponsor its first awards. The organization, which was founded my MPs Jo Swinson and Lynne Featherstone, works to create diversity in the models used in imagery for beauty and fashion advertising, as well as campaigning for responsible retouching of the photographs taken.

“The manufacturing of beauty has resulted in highly edited clones and it’s time for a change,” said Andrew Rodgers, marketing director, bareMinerals.

The first Body Confidence Awards, which take place at the Houses on Parliament on 19 April, will recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of those who help promote better body confidence, and will feature ten categories.

“Beauty should not be a one size, one shape, one colour or one age fits all policy,” said Jo Swinson, MP and chair of the all-party Parliamentary group on body image. “For far too many people, negative body image is having an impact on their well-being. The awards will recognise the positive steps taken by industry groups, businesses and campaigners to empower people with the confidence to have a positive body image and to embrace diversity in the images being presented. We believe that brands that promote diverse body ideals are doing the right thing and we should give them our support.”
