Birchbox acquires JolieBox in global expansion move
US company takes over business units in France, Spain and the UK
Birchbox, the US-based beauty box and e-commerce company, has acquired Paris-based beauty box company JolieBox.
The acquisition is part of a global expansion move by Birchbox as it takes over JolieBox’s business units in France, Spain and the UK. Furthermore, through the acquisition Birchbox will take over JolieBox’s brand partners, bringing the company’s total to more than 400 internationally.
Katia Beauchamp, co-founder of Birchbox, said: “The delight of discovery extends across any border and to any culture. JolieBox, with their like-minded team and brand ethos, is the absolute perfect partner to build relationships with new customers and brand partners internationally while simultaneously improving distribution as we scale.”
Birchbox, founded in 2010, started by selling personalised monthly beauty sample subscription boxes on its website but has developed over the last few years to include a handpicked online shop and editorial content.
