Bondi Sands has recalled two mineral sunscreens due to a potential problem with the product separating
A recall notice published by Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) says the products may appear to have an uneven texture and visible water separating out of the product.
If this happens, the product is not properly mixed, and this could affect the SPF rating and mean users are not getting the level of protection promised on the bottle, according to the TGA.
Two batches of the Bondi Sands Zinc Mineral Broad Spectrum UVA & UVB Protection Sunscreen SPF 50+ Face Lotion 60ml are affected, and have the following batch codes and expiry dates:
- GC032084 – Jul 27
- 4843 – Nov 26
Three batches of Bondi Sands Zinc Mineral Broad Spectrum UVA & UVB Protection Sunscreen SPF 50+ Body Lotion 120ml are also impacted, and have the following batch codes and expiry dates:
- GC032114 – Jul 27
- GC063314 – Nov 26
- 4844 – Nov 26
Anyone who has these products has been urged not to use them.
Consumers have been told to return the product to the place of purchase, or contact Bondi Sands to arrange a refund or replacement with another product.
No other Bondi Sands products are affected, the company said in a notice on its website.
Bondi Sands said on its UK website that it is also working with authorities in the UK to initiate a recall of the affected products.
In the UK, product recalls are published by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS).
An official recall notice has not yet been published.
Cosmetics Business has contacted Bond Sands for comment.
