Boots is leading the UK beauty market when it comes to search, new research has revealed.
The high street health and beauty retailer accounts for a third of UK beauty retailer brand searches, according to analysis by SEO agency MediaVision.
Boots came out ahead of rival beauty retailer Superdrug, which was found to have a 12% share of search.
Sephora accounted for just 3% of search, MediaVision found, followed by Lookfantastic, Space NK, and Charlotte Tilbury.
“The retail landscape is increasingly competitive,” said Katie Gloyne, SEO Manager at MediaVision.
“The brands maintaining the biggest share of search are those that build sustained consumer awareness through distinctive retail experiences, product innovation, and credible partnerships with search data to anticipate demand and sustain consumer visibility across multiple channels.
“In beauty, the strongest performers are not just capturing demand; they are leading the conversations.”
The analysis looked at search market share from May to August this year.
Louis Venter, founder and CEO at MediaVision, commented: “The UK beauty sector is evolving rapidly, and the brands that understand where consumer demand is moving are best positioned to capture future growth.
“Established awareness remains an advantage, but the brands responding fastest to changing consumer interests will increasingly be the ones winning attention.”
