Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas have invested €1.5m in the French sister-founded brand

The duo behind vinotherapy label Caudalie have invested €1.5m in Skin and Out, a natural acne care brand.

Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas’ backing follows the Caudalie founders’ 2023 purchase of a minority stake in mother and baby brand Talm, another French start-up.

Sister-founders Fleur and Amélie Desazars launched Skin and Out four years ago, following their struggles with acne and a search for natural solutions to help the condition.

Skin and Out’s treatments comprise topical formulas, food supplements and personalised coaching with a naturopath or dietitian expert in acne.

Amélie previously worked with Mathilde on Caudalie’s range for acne-prone skin, while Fleur boasts experience in the nutrition sector.

In 2023, Skin and Out generated more than €1m in sales.

The investment will be put towards maximising the brand’s retail presence in France, especially in pharmacies and growing its product range.
