The rapid development of digital photography and the parallel increase in the processing power of modern PCs open up numerous new opportunities in clinical photography and likewise in qualitative image analysis. For optimum and reproducible results, however, we not only need innovative technology, but also dedicated systems for different tasks. Furthermore, the entire process, from capturing the image to archiving through evaluation, has to be considered and validated. Of course, only qualified and trained personnel should be used in this process.
