Supermarket chain acquires 37 outlets for an undisclosed sum

Supermarket chain Coop has acquired the The Body Shop’s 37 stores in Switzerland for an undisclosed sum. Ivan Levy, owner of The Body Shop Switzerland, will remain in charge of the company, while all 192 employees will keep their jobs. However, the cosmetics and toiletries retailer will now operate as a separate enterprise under a three-member board chaired by Coop’s Joos Sutter in order to integrate The Body Shop into the Coop business.

The Body Shop Switzerland began operations in 1983, seven years after Anita Roddick founded The Body Shop in the UK.
