Kenya loses approximately USD$1m per month as a result of fake cosmetic products, according to the Anti-Counterfeit Agency of Kenya (ACA).

In 2013, fake Colgate-Palmolive brands bound for the Republic of Congo were discovered in a shipping container by ACA officers with the help of Interpol and customs officials. The goods had a market value of almost €100,000.
