Dior signs new muse

Parfums Christian Dior has signed actress and model, Monica Bellucci to represent Rouge Dior, described by the company as its "new legend-in-the-making lipstick". Dior's UK md Ruth Newton Jones describes the company's new 'muse' Bellucci as "admired for her famously sensual lips and her supreme femininity".

Bellucci was dressed in a striking red Dior gown designed by John Galliano for the announcement in Paris on 10 May. To mark the occasion a red carpet was rolled out across the city in the form of powerful red lights illuminating the Palais de Chaillot, Place de la Concorde, Place Vendôme and the glass roof of the Grand Palais; the Place de la Concorde's Obelisk actually inspired the packaging for Dior's original lipstick.

Rouge Dior goes on sale worldwide from 1 September 2006 and will be available in 32 shades designed to celebrate the cinema.
