Douglas sees respectable start to Q1
Christmas period saw a 4.5% boost in sales
Douglas Holding AG, which counts the Douglas Perfumery chain among its portfolio, has seen a positive start to Ql as group sales increased by 4.5% to €1.2bn, while like-for-like sales were up by 1.6%. This took in the vital Christmas trading period so good sales here were seen as especially important.
The company says that the sales gain seen in its home country of Germany was particularly pleasing with a sales growth amounting to 5.4% and like-for-like sales of 3%. Whereas sales growth outside of Germany what somewhat muted at just 2.6%, while like-for-like sales here were actually down by 1.1%.
Dr Henning Kreke, president and ceo of Douglas Holding commented on the latest results: “All in all we have achieved a very solid platform for the rest of the fiscal year with this quite respectable performance in the first quarter.”
