Douglas sees sales rise by 1.5% to over €1.21bn in Q1 2012/13
Consumer environment in some foreign markets remains challenging
The Douglas Group has reported a successful set of first quarter results for the 2012/13 fiscal year, with consolidated sales rising by 1.5% to €1.21bn.
In the company’s home market of Germany, sales totaled €816.5m, up marginally on last year’s figure of €814m by 0.3%. Internationally, the Group increased its consolidated sales by 4.1% to €395.1m. However, the restrained consumer environment in some European markets adversely affected the sales trend.
Looking at Douglas’ perfumeries specifically, sales here amounted to €684.3m, an increase of 4.1% on last year; in Germany sales rose by 3.4% to €370m, while internationally, sales rose by 4.9% to €314.3m.
Dr Henning Kreke, President and CEO of the Douglas Group, said: “All in all, this trend in sales during the first quarter gives us a solid foundation for the rest of the fiscal year. From today’s vantage point, the Executive Board anticipates a slight increase in sales and EBITDA for the current 2012/13 fiscal year compared to the previous year’s figure.”
