Dow Corning has signed a joint venture and marketing agreement with Elevance Renewable Sciences Inc to create a line of naturally derived personal care ingredients, which the silicon-based technology specialist believes will quickly become a major part of the natural and organic personal care market.
Dow Corning and Elevance, which creates speciality chemicals from natural oils, collaborated earlier this year to create two naturally derived products: Dow Corning HY-3050 Soy Wax and Dow Corning HY-3051 Soy Wax Blend.
These recent agreements represent a significant step in the company’s aim to move beyond silicon. “Dow Corning has been looking to create alliances with key strategic partners with innovative technology like Elevance to further enhance our positioning the personal care market,” said Stephen Gosney, Dow Corning’s global beauty care industry director, of the deal. “We believe the combination of silicon technology with Elevance’s natural-based products provides the market with functional and performance benefits for a wide variety of applications.”
