Epicutis, a biotechnology skin care brand, has secured a US$25m minority investment.

The funding from private equity firm GroundForce Capital will support Epicutis' next phase of growth across the professional dermocosmetics channel.

This funding aims to support the company in building brand awareness, as well as developing new skin care innovations.

GroundForce Capital will also join Epicutis' board of directors as part of the deal agreement.

“Epicutis exists because we believed skin care deserved real science – actives discovered in the lab, published in the literature and trusted by practitioners before they ever reach a shelf,” said Maxwell Stock, co-founder, CEO and President of Epicutis.

“GroundForce [Capital] understood that discipline from our very first conversation.

“This partnership lets us move faster on everything that matters: the discovery pipeline behind the brand, the professional channel we intend to lead and the standard of proof we hold ourselves to.”

Epicutis develops minimalist formulations built around its ‘skin health’ positioning and proprietary, patent-protected actives, including TSC, DSD and HYVIA.

The brand has built its reputation within the professional channel, and claimed to have scaled revenue at nearly a 100% compound annual growth rate over the past two years.

Epicutis said in a company statement that it expects to continue on this “strong growth trajectory”, capitalising on industry tailwinds as consumers “increasingly look to professionals for product recommendations and the professional channel continues seeing momentum”.

Dan Gluck, co-founder and Co-Managing Partner of GroundForce Capital, added: “Epicutis has built something rare in skin care: a genuinely differentiated scientific platform paired with the sales execution to bring it to market at scale.

“Max Stock and the team have earned the trust of practitioners the hard way, one account at a time, and we are proud to back that discipline as Epicutis enters its next phase of growth.”
