EU ministers extend personal care product ecolabel rules

From 31 December 2011 to June 2013


The EU Council of Ministers has extended until June 2013 the official authorisation for ecological manufacturing standards criteria for soaps, shampoos and hair conditioners, enabling personal care product companies to attach an EU eco-label to their products. The current authorisation was due to lapse on 31 December.

In the meantime, the validity of the existing rules will be assessed and maybe amended from June 2013. They are administered by the EU Eco-Labelling Board.
