Hydroquinone still causing problems

EU consumer protection information network RAPEX has reported a string of market withdrawals of potentially harmful skin whitening products in the Netherlands and Austria. The actions were taken largely because of excess hydroquinone content, breaching the EU’s cosmetics directive.

Among the products in Holland were seven lines of US-made Palmer’s Skin Success products. Others included British-made Topiclear Lemon Cream and ‘Skin Lite ’n’ Smooth Cream’ under the UK brand Symba. In Austria, ‘Caro White’ lightening cream, made in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was withdrawn.
