EU research project assesses cosmetics ingredient toxicology

Final results by end 2011


An EU joint working group on ‘threshold of toxicological concern’ has heard preliminary results from the EU’s COSMOS project on assessing the dangers posed by cosmetics ingredients to consumers.

Its researchers are working with the EU’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) to compare information from the Munroe toxicology database with knowledge of cosmetic ingredients. This will analyse their chemicals and exposure levels posing a health risk. Final results will come by the end of 2011, the committee heard.
