Givaudan sales up in first nine months of 2011

Both fragrance and flavour divisions enjoy growth


Flavours and fragrance specialist Givaudan has announced sales of CHF 2,971m in the first nine months of 2011, an increase of 4.7% in local currencies and a decline of 9.5% in Swiss francs compared to the same period of the previous year.

The company’s fragrance and flavour division both reported revenue growth in local currencies. Fragrance increased 4.4% to reach CHF 1,395m, while flavour grew 5% to CHF 1,576m.

Within the fragrance division, fine fragrance grew 1.3% against strong comparables in 2010, while consumer products grew 5.1%. Total sales for Givaudan’s fragrance compounds business (which includes fine fragrance and consumer products) were CHF 1,202m, up 4.2% in local currencies on the first nine months of 2010. The company’s fragrance ingredients business enjoyed sales growth of 5.3% in local currencies, boosted by double digit growth in developing markets.

Price increases have recently been implemented by Givaudan in order to compensate for increases in input costs.
