India and Chile collaborate on bioactive development
India’s Avesthagen Ltd has formed a strategic alliance with Chilean biotechnology company Uxmal SA in a venture supported by the Chilean government.
India’s Avesthagen Ltd has formed a strategic alliance with Chilean biotechnology company Uxmal SA in a venture supported by the Chilean government.
The alliance is hoped to promote the research and development of bioactives for commercial use in functional foods, healthcare and cosmetics. This research will particularly focus on bioactives and tissue culture derived from Latin American medicinal plants.
“This is a positive step towards collaboration between India and Chile and this alliance will definitely benefit both nations,” commented Chilean president Michelle Bachelet. Avesthagen has also announced that it is to expand internationally by setting up a new company, Avesthagen Latam SpA, near Santiago, Chile.
