The Queer Eye star’s hair care brand has been bought alongside baby care brand Pipette following the sale by Amyris

JVN Hair, the hair care brand of Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness, has been acquired by investment company Windsong Global.

Windsong Global bought the gender-neutral brand from former owner Amyris for US$1.25m at auction last year, Cosmetics Business reported.

It came amid a series of sales for the bankrupt brand owner, including Biossance, Meno Labs and actress Tia Mowry’s hair care brand 4U.

Windsong has also acquired baby care brand Pipette, despite HRB Brands winning the brand’s original auction with a bid of $1.75m.

JVN Hair and Pipette will be managed by newly created holding company Belle Brands going forward, with JVN Global President Teresa Lo leading the business.

"This is an exciting moment for JVN Hair, and I'm grateful to Windsong Global for believing in our brand," said Van Ness.

"JVN Hair – our products, our stylists, our community – is so deeply meaningful to me.

“I'm thrilled to have found a partner in Windsong who shares our vision and goals, and in conjunction with Teresa's leadership, I can't wait to see what we achieve next."

JVN Hair was founded by Van Ness in 2021 and specialises in ‘clean’ hair care products including shampoos, conditioners and styling products.

"I am thrilled to continue leading JVN Hair, while expanding my role to include the Pipette business," added Lo.

"Both brands possess infinite growth potential, delivering effective, accessible and conscious formulas that today's consumers want and deserve.

“I look forward to working with Windsong's management team, Jonathan and our retail partners to ensure these brands continue to thrive."

Windsong has previously invested in beauty brands including Revive, This Works and Alberto VO5.
