Consulting company Kline & Co has been conducting conclusive market research on the professional market for hair products in Latin America, with a particular focus on Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, which will be published this autumn. The study, entitled Salon Hair Care Latin America 2006, will evaluate the size of the market and its main players, map out distribution channels and the way they work and forecast trends.

Initial estimates worked out by Factor de Solução, Kline's afilliate in Sao Paulo, reinforce the hypothesis that this market has been growing steadily in Latin America, with estimated double digit growth in the last few years. In Brazil this market has already exceeded $250m/year - including hair colouring products, hair styling products and ethnic products both used in salons and sold at retail through the professional channel.

According to Sérgio Rebêlo, Factor de Solução/Kline Group´s managing director based in Sao Paulo: “The market for professional products in Latin America is still full of opportunities to be explored. However, there is a shortage of information and concrete data on this market, which makes planning slightly difficult both for current players and newcomers. Thus, we have decided to face the challenge and come out as the pioneers in mapping out the dimensions of this business in Latin America.”

Although this professional market has never been assessed in Latin America by Kline & Co before, it has been tracked in both the US and Europe for many years.
