L’Oréal to cut nearly 5% of US workforce

French cosmetics giant L’Oréal has become the latest company to cut staffing levels with the announcement that it is to eliminate 500 positions in the US between now and mid-2009, according to Dow Jones International News.

L’Oréal says the job cuts, which equate to 4.7% of its workforce in the region, are part of a move to streamline the company’s activities. The group believes that the move will not impact on its business in other markets.
