Lush Cosmetics has made a controversial move by joining forces with extreme environmentalist group, Sea Shepherd, to help save sharks from finning activities around the world.
The company has been actively working alongside the group by handing out leaflets and showing videos containing information about saving the shark population. A further dramatic stunt was carried out with a female employee being hung by fish hooks in the window of a Lush store.
However, the move by Lush to align itself with the group has caused controversy due to the extreme measures Sea Shepherd goes to with its deliberate policy of sinking or sabotaging vessels that are thought to have violated international whaling laws. Greenpeace has previously disassociated itself from the group due to its radical measures.
Lush, however, has said it is happy to be working with a group that ‘takes action rather than just talks about it’.
