Luxury can’t ignore the internet

5% of luxury product sales to be online by 2011


Luxury product sales via the internet have expanded to such an extent that a number of consultancy reports suggest that this form of distribution can no longer be ignored, let alone despised.

Online sales remain relatively low as a proportion of the total – below 3% in 2009 – but their share of the world market is growing and is expected to reach 4% in 2010 and almost 5% in 2011, according to the Precepta consultancy.
