All cosmetics product labels sold within the European Union EU should declare the identity of the manufacturer to improve product traceability, should they cause health problems to consumers, the European Commission has said.

In a report on the EU’s consumer alert network RAPEX, Brussels has called for mandatory rules saying all EU-sold product packaging carry such identifiers. Some EU member states do not insist on this information, preventing “the market surveillance authority” from taking “fully effective measures,” said the report.
