Marico gets serious about C&T acquisitions
Indian hair, skin and health foods brand Marico appears to be still on the acquisition trail. The company recently acquired oil brand Nihar, with a recorded turnover of Rs120 crore in 2006/07, which followed the acquisition of the Fiancee and HairCode brands from an Egyptian company. Now integrated into the Marico portfolio these two brands are expected to generation turnover of Rs90 crore in 2007/08.

Marico generated turnover of about Rs15.6bn ($380m) in 2006/07, led by flagship brands Parachute coconut hair oil and Saffola edible oil. The company is present in the skin care services sector through Kaya Skin Clinics (48 in India and the Middle East), the Sundari range of spa skin care products (in the US and other countries) and through a recently acquired nascent soap franchise (in India and Bangladesh).
