Momentive strengthens its South Asia presence

Momentive Performance Materials has opened a manufacturing facility and application development centre (ADC) in Chennai, India. According to the company, the 15-acre plant has the potential to double its current manufacturing capacity and has been established to address the company’s future expansion needs in India.

According to the company, the 15-acre plant has the potential to double its current manufacturing capacity and has been established to address the company’s future expansion needs in India.

The Chennai manufacturing facility and ADC, which will manufacture products such as silicone fluids and silicone elastomers, further consolidates Momentive’s position in South Asia. “The inauguration of this manufacturing facility in Chennai, in conjunction with our monomer and finishing plant in Rayong, Thailand will considerably enhance our capability to develop and manufacture products, create applications and service them in an efficient manner,” said V P Nalian, managing director of Momentive Performance Materials India. “This will help our customers win in the automotive, telecom, construction, personal care and textiles segments.”

Construction on the manufacturing facility and ADC began in June 2007 and its completion brings the number of Momentive’s production plants to 27 worldwide.
