Naturex and Natraceutical Group to create world’s largest natural ingredients company

The ingredients division of Spanish biotechnology corporation Natraceutical Group and French natural speciality ingredients supplier Naturex are to merge to form what it is claimed will be the world’s largest independent natural speciality ingredients company. Both companies today signed a memorandum of understanding to formalise the merger, which is expected to be effective before the year’s end.

Natraceutical’s ingredients company, which supplies natural colours, fruit and vegetable powders, pectins, functional ingredients, yeasts and caffeine will be integrated into Naturex, whose product portfolio includes nutraceuticals, flavourings, preservatives and extracts.

The resulting company will have production sites in Europe, the US, Morocco, Australia and Brazil in addition to sales offices in the US, Europe and Asia, and will be run by Naturex’s management team, headed by Jacques Dikansky.

Following the merger, Natraceutical Group will focus on developing its nutritional supplements division in Europe.
