New emulsifier Tego Care from Degussa
New from Degussa-Goldschmidt Personal Care, launched at this year’s in-cosmetics, is a cold processable o/w, PEG-free emulsifier called Tego Care LTP. It is based on vegetable raw materials so is biodegradable and can be used as a sole emulsifier, has a fairly low use level (1.5-2.5%) and is said to be low in cost.
“As well as making emulsions in the traditional way it can make emulsions using basic equipment, ie rapid stirring,” explains sales manager, Tony Payne. Suitable applications include o/w lotions, sprays and creams for face and body products and sun care.
A second emulsifier was also launched by the company. Tego Emulprot, “fits with the obsessive trend, particularly in the UK, for naturals,” says Payne. The natural, PEG-free milk- and sugar-based emulsifier is Ecocert approved and is said to thicken, emulsify and stabilise oily phases and make it possible to produce soft and creamy textures.
