Aveda has added Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser to its Ayurveda inspired Tourmaline skin care range. The pink gemstone tourmaline is believed to have strong energising qualities and is claimed to enhance the performance of the other ingredients in the formulation, “delivering superior moisture, smoothness, radiance and helping to reduce fine lines,” according to Peter Matravers, vp of R&D for Aveda.
In addition to tourmaline crystals, the daily use cleanser contains jojoba beads for mild physical exfoliation during cleansing, sloughing off dead skin cells without scratching or damaging the skin’s surface. The cell shedding process is helped by a corn-derived sugar, sodium mannose phosphate. To condition the skin, the jojoba beads are suspended in a cream base of mango butter, babassu oil and meadowfoam seed oil.
