Cellike mimics the natural lipid barrier of skin in its composition and structure...

What is Cellike?

Cellike mimics the natural lipid barrier of skin in its composition and structure. The physical structure of Cellike is very similar to the horny layers of skin barrier (Figure 1). The chemical composition of Cellike is similar to the natural components of skin –phosphatidylcholine, triglyceride, cholesterol, and ceramide.

Cellike offers long-lasting skin moisturizing effect through reinforcing the skin’s natural barrier function. Cosmetics with Cellike are more compatible to the physiological properties of skin than the emulsions with oil and water. The multiple layered liposomes with Cellike offer stabilization and efficient penetration of active ingredients into skin.

Clinical studies on hydration and soothing effects of Cellike

Lipids of the stratum corneum (epidermal lipids) play an important role in skin’s barrier function. The composition and structure of these epidermal lipids determine the intactness of skin’s barrier permeability and moisture balance. When the skin’s barrier is disrupted, it is no longer protected from environmental stressors and pollutants. Permanent disruption of the lipid barrier exposes the skin to repetitive stress and this may result in a degenerative process with higher sensitivity for skin incompatible excipients, allergic reactions, and eczema.

The clinical studies indicated that Cellike has ability to recover erythema occurred by 1% SDS treatment (Figure 2). In addition, it showed that Cellike has effect on stratum corneum hydration (Figure 3).
