Luxury skin care name tapped actress Emilia Clarke as its first-ever brand ambassador in 2020

Clinique has stepped away from celebrity endorsements for its latest marketing campaign.

Rather than using actress and global brand ambassador Emilia Clarke, the skin care player has chosen “brave women from around the world” to push its Moisture Surge 100H line.

The Face of Adventure advert highlights the stories of Saray Khumalo, the first black African woman to summit Mount Everest; Marcela Maranon, the first Latin woman with a disability to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, and Emma Svensson, the leader of the first-all female team to climb every 4000m peak in the European Alps.

Adventurer Elise Wortley and primatologist Dr Mireya Mayor also star in the campaign.

“They chose their adventures based on their passions and dedication and focus on their journeys,” said the Estée Lauder Companies-owned brand in a statement.

“They are the boldest, the bravest, the ones who see things differently.”

Games of Thrones star Emilia Clarke was named Clinique's first-ever brand ambassador in 2020.

The British spokesperson was later joined by Mexican celebrity and In The Heights star Melissa Barrera as the company's second face.

“We want people of substance to represent Clinique, more than just pretty faces and talking heads,” said Elizabeth Nolan, Clinique’s Global Creative Director, at the appointment.
