Free business event helping Manchester-based companies prepare for Brexit

'Prepare for a ‘No Deal’ and be prepared for all scenarios’ advises MSL’s leading cosmetic regulatory experts

With the likelihood of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit increasing, The Cosmetics Cluster UK (CCUK), in partnership with MSL Solution Providers, is hosting an event to help cosmetic and personal care businesses in the Manchester region prepare for Britain’s exit from the European Union.

The event is free to attend and will take place at 9am on Wednesday 16th October 2019 at the Science and Industry Museum, Liverpool Road, Manchester M3 4FP.

The half-day event will consist of talks by leading industry experts, covering Brexit updates and specific advice, helping to guide SMEs in the cosmetic, toiletries and personal care sector through the key changes in legislation.

In addition, the event will offer delegates the opportunity to take part in a practical workshop, where they will look at how Brexit will impact their business. At the end of this session, they will leave armed with a bespoke, detailed Brexit contingency plan that they can then implement.

The programme includes:

  • Welcome and introductions by Lisa Buck, Co-founder of CCUK and Angela Davies, CEO and founder of MSL Solution Providers
  • Seminar by Angela Davies and Alex Fotheringham, Operations Director – Cosmetics at MSL Solution Providers: Advising delegates on the possible scenarios and the impact these will have on the regulatory landscape and their business
  • Practical workshop: helping delegates prepare their own business contingency plan with advice and support from regulatory experts.

Angela Davies, CEO of MSL Solution Providers, comments, ‘Our advice is “prepare for a ‘No Deal’ and be prepared for all scenarios”. The changes Brexit will bring will come into force regardless of a deal.

However, if the UK leaves without one, then the new regulations are effective as of the exit date, (currently set as 31st October 2019), rather than after a transition period, to December 2020.

‘MSL is committed to helping cosmetics companies get set for business post-Brexit, whenever the final withdrawal date is. Many small companies in the industry are still simply not ready – and if they want to continue selling in Europe, they need to act now.’

The event is facilitated via CCUK with funding from the ‘Business Readiness Fund’. This fund is provided by the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy’s (BEIS) to support events, training and the production of advice packs to assist businesses in making sure they are fully prepared for a Brexit on 31 October 2019.
