Gelest appoints Dr Jonathan Goff as President

A 13-year veteran of the US-based chemicals manufacturer, Goff assumes the role from former CEO and founder Dr Barry Arkles

Chemicals manufacturing company Gelest has named Dr Jonathan Goff as its new President, taking over the role from founder Dr Barry Arkles, who stepped down at the end of last year.

Most recently serving as Chief Technology Officer at Gelest, Goff (pictured right) has held a number of roles at the Pennsylvania, US-based business throughout his 13-year career, with a focus on technology, NPD, market introductions and building customer relationships.

Now, he will lead the company, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation that specialises in silane, silicones, organosilanes, metal-organics and speciality monomers for advanced technology markets, through its next phase of development as it aims to deliver cutting-edge chemical technology, products and services to its customers across a range of sectors including personal care.

Arkles, who founded the business in 1991 to develop and manufacture silicon and metal-organic based chemicals, said: “I couldn’t be more pleased to have Jonathan take over the reigns at Gelest.

“His strong grasp of the technology and markets and a leadership style that is at once inclusive and directional gives all stakeholders assurance that the strong growth and innovation that characterizes Gelest will continue.”

Meanwhile, Goff said that he was “excited” to take on his new role, adding: “Gelest has a strong technology roadmap for the years to come thanks to the entrepreneurial vision of our previous CEO.

“We are well positioned for strong growth, and with the support of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, we will continue to drive through new frontiers of technology and innovation.”
