E-motion is designed to ‘explore solutions to boost customers’ emotions and feelings’

E-motion is a new smart packaging development program from Groupe Pochet, designed to ‘explore solutions to boost customers’ emotions and feelings’, and to boost the shopping and use experience.

Focused on the luxury segment of the fragrance, colour cosmetics and skin care markets, the ‘light and dynamic effects’ of the bottle design, decoration and texture were part of the conception from the very beginning of the creation process, according to Groupe Pochet.

The technology allows the user to have an intuitive interaction with the product through touching or motion detection. The light effects can either be incorporated into the packaging itself or projected all around, allowing a brand’s identity and marketing materials to be enlarged to a much wider space.

The light features are self-sufficient and do not require battery changes or reloading. The packaging is also compliant with EC standards and does not pose an electricity hazard, said Groupe Pochet.

A collaboration between the Groupe’s three business units, Pochet du Courval provided glass manufacturing know-how, while Qualipac bought expertise of technology integration and Solev offered the finishing operations with electric driving properties.

The global packaging offering also includes design conception counseling and 3D lighting sequences simulation software. E-motion is patented for two specific technologies in France and two additional international patent applications are pending.
