The Shoreditch, London pop-up offers free trims from barbers with mental health training

Athletics apparel brand Gymshark has opened the doors on a barbershop in London’s Shoreditch to provide a safe space for men to talk about mental health.

Called Deload, the barbershop’s visitors can get a free trim from barbers who also have professional mental health training via 12th Man.

Gymshark’s pop-up will be open from 12-17 July, bringing in hair stylists from Brixton and Hackney-based Curfew Grooming.

Panel talks will occur across two evenings with representatives from CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), Lions Barber Collective (which helps raise awareness for the prevention of suicide), Curfew Grooming, Gymshark Athletes and Influencers.

According to CALM, 125 people a week die by suicide and 75% of all UK suicides are male.
