YSL Beauté has appointed transgender actress Yasmin Finney as its first UK local ambassador.

The star of Netflix’s hit drama Heartstopper will feature in the luxury brand’s ‘Drop the Look’ campaign in April.

“Yasmin is one of the most influential actresses in the transgender community and is strongly committed and engaged in supporting the LGBTQIA+ communities,” said the L'Oréal-owned beauty brand in a statement.

The actress described the collaboration as a positive step for transgender representation.

"To me, this partnership means hope,” said Finney.

“It means all the younger Yasmins out there who have been told they do not belong can finally see themselves represented by a monumental brand like YSL Beauté.

"It is a real pinch-me moment. Not long ago, I was in Manchester, dreaming of better days.

“I am so excited to be part of the YSL family because, to me, beauty comes from confidence.

"It all starts from within. Do not try and fit in – stand out.”

Finney unveiled the news on Instagram, sharing campaign images where she applies the brand’s Rouge Pur Couture The Bold lipstick.

YSL Beauté has also recently appointed Danielle Marsh as a brand ambassador.

The member of South Korean girl group, NewJeans, will feature in a series of promotional campaigns for the brand.
