Global consumers are increasingly using sunscreens as they become aware of the carcinogenic and photoageing effects of UV radiation from sunlight.

Organic UV filters are often used in conventional sunscreens and other skin care cosmetic products. 4-tert-butyl-4’-methoxy dibenzoylmethane, also commonly known as avobenzone or BMDBM in the cosmetics industry, is a widely used organic UVA sunscreen filter, even though it is known to be prone to photodegradation.
