Hallstar has the the ingredients and the lab space to develop skin care products at an economical or significantly higher price point, including a wide spectrum of emulsifiers, emulsion stabilizers and structurants to achieve and stabilize specific product forms. Our diverse array of natural emollients and butters allows design of unique product aesthetics, both tactile and olfactory, ideally suited to match market requirements. Also available are products — such as self tanning fomulations — to provide protection from environmental causes of premature skin aging or to correct visible signs of aging, such as age spots, fine lines, loss of elasticity and excessive trans-epidermal water loss. As the market moves towards broader and higher sun protection performance, it becomes increasingly challenging to develop globally acceptable sun protection products and formulations given regional limitations on allowed UV filters, levels and combinations. Hallstar offers a range of ingredients and formulation solutions for products that require SPF and PFA performance.
Our sun protection formulations and solutions include our newly developed titanium dioxide-based UV Filters with world-leading aesthetics, low whitening impact and measurably high SPF/PFA contribution. We have specially designed stabilizers that enable the full benefit from photolabile UV filters. Some also inhibit the formation of deleterious reactive oxygen species by the inherently photocatalytic physical filters, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Higher polarity Hallstar emollients also enhance photolabile UV filter stability while concurrently functioning as solid UV filter solubilizers. Our surfactants, emulsifiers and antioxidants further contribute to sun care product form and function, and all have been tested in specific sun care applications. Hallstar colour cosmetic ingredients can meet other challenging requirements: application to the lips require ingredients that are non-toxic, mild and bland or pleasant in taste, while those for the eye area require ingredients that are mild and nonirritating. Hallstar has a broad spectrum of ingredients ideal for use in a wide array of toiletries products, such as antiperspirants, bath oils, deodorants, depilatories, hand washes, perfumes, shower gels, soaps and shaving preparations. Many have clinical testing in support of product benefits; others have Ecocert or USDA-NOP certification, and/or exotic origin to support unique product positioning.
Products include emollient vegetal and vegetal-based oils, butters, a petrolatum alternative and an organosilicone for unique feel. Specialty stearyl alcohol contributes to stable, non-crystallizing antiperspirant sticks, while light esters yield exceptional bath oils and alkali-stable self-emulsifiers enable shelf-stable depilatories.
Mild surfactants produce gentle cleansers, while high foaming ones produce quality shaving foams and elegant personal cleansers, and solubilizers allow the development of water-based perfume preparations.

The wide variety of hair care products can be divided into two main categories: reactive (relaxers, permanent waves, bleaches and permanent colourants) and non-reactive (shampoos, conditioners and styling aids). Our non-ester self-emulsifiers constitute a stable base for relaxers, cream lotion developers and depilatories. Other self-emulsifiers and emulsifiers, some Ecocert validated, prove to be suitable bases for various forms of conditioners and styling aids. USDA-NOP, Ecocert, natural, botanically-derived and specialty synthetic emollients enable a wide range of aesthetics, market positionings and performance characteristics.
