The deal is the latest in a series of investments by Lotus Herbals since 2020

Lotus Herbals, the Indian natural beauty care company, has acquired a 25% stake in Conscious Chemist, a direct-to-consumer skin care brand specialising in ‘clean’ beauty.

The purchase is the latest in a series of strategic investments by the growing conglomerate since the onset of the pandemic, including the full acquisition of Ayurvedic brand SoulTree in September 2020 and a 32% stake buy in Fix Derma India, announced October last year.

Conscious Chemist’s product portfolio includes facial care, eye care and body care, and the brand claims a holistic approach to product making that incorporates botanical ingredients and science-backed actives.

Commenting on the stake buy, Nitin Passi, Joint Managing Director of Lotus Herbals, said: “We are excited about our strategic investment in Conscious Chemist since it aligns with our strategy for accelerating growth in the DTC digital native universe focused on clean beauty.

“The brand also resonates with our commitment to sustainability and environmentally friendly practices.

“We appreciate the vigour, exuberance and dynamism that Conscious Chemist brings and will provide them tangible access to Indian and global markets, technological and marketing mentorship that will help in propelling its growth over the next five years.”

Robin Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Conscious Chemist, said he was “confident that this synergistic relationship will drive exponential growth”.

Meanwhile, co-founder and COO Prakher Mathur added that the investment would help “fuel our commitment to launch category-creating innovative products, drive consumer behaviour change through education about performance-driven skin care solutions and expand our national and global footprint”.
