Indie brand Rosalique tackles signs of rosacea

Published: 15-May-2019

More than 450 million people worldwide live with rosacea: a chronic inflammatory skin condition that affects primarily the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin areas of Caucasian consumers, resulting in redness, swelling and pimples.

Rosalique 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula is the standalone product from UK-headquartered Rosalique Skincare Limited, which celebrates its first birthday this week.

“The philosophy behind the brand comes from my husband’s father, Dr Martin Schiele, who was a bio-scientist from Germany,” said Claudia Talsma, Director and co-founder of Rosalique.

“He created our sister brand, Salcura, which is more of a health brand for psoriasis, acne, etc. Its philosophy is very much a natural approach.

“But when you suffer from skin issues like rosacea, you don't always want a product that looks functional – and Salcura is a very purposeful brand. You want to buy something that looks nice, especially when you are maybe not so confident about your skin.

“We wanted to create something that looked nice and which does three things: instantly conceal, addresses inflammation and protects the skin.”

The Rosalique 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula can be used as a primer under make-up or on its own. It contains micro-encapsulated pigments for immediate concealing of redness and uneven skin tone. On the active ingredient front, α-(−)-bisabolol provides anti-inflammatory action; the volcanic mineral zeolite removes toxins associated with inflammation; shea butter and provitamin B5 moisturise; and urea both moisturises and helps to boost the penetration of the other active ingredients.

The formula also contains SPF 25 for UVA and UVB protection, which will soon be bumped up to SPF 50 as the brand enters markets such as Greece where daily sun protection is even more vital.

As well as rosacea, Talsma said the dermatologically-tested product can be used to improve the look and feel of sunburned skin, menopausal ‘hot flushed’ skin, insect bites, keratosis pilaris, couperose and skins suffering from other instances of redness and/or inflammation.
